Tribute

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Peter Niebuhr into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 28, 2022 in Vancouver, BC.  Peter was born in Neuendorf, Ukraine on September  6, 1934, to Abram and Anna (nee Loewen) Niebuhr.  His siblings were Ann, Henry, Helen and David.  Given that they were forced to leave their homeland, Peter  immigrated to Canada with his parents and siblings in 1948. After a few years in Manitoba he eventually settled in Vancouver in 1958, where he met Susan, the love of his life.  They married in 1959. Peter was a loving and caring husband and father.  He was gentle, faithful, optimistic, kind and supportive to all who crossed his path.  He loved God, his church and his family.  He especially enjoyed it when the whole family spent August long weekends in Oroville.  He thanked God often for his many blessings.  He was also a successful businessman.  He is predeceased by his parents and siblings as well as his son, Bruce and his grandson, Adrian.  He is survived by his children Rich (Rosalie), Jim (Brenda), Brenda(Rick Goossen), Dave(Irena) and Tom (Laura), his grandchildren Nick (Colleen), Brooke (Rob), Matthias (Kia), Alex (Kathleen), Katrina, Neil (Amanda), Sam(Anaesha), Kaylyn, Claire, Lannea, Bryce, Markus and Erik and his great-grandchildren Cobie Goossen and Zion Fernandez.  He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.  In lieu of flowers please support MCC – Crisis in Ukraine.  A memorial service will be held on March 11, 2022  at 3:30 pm at Peace Mennonite Church 11571 Daniels Road Richmond BC, V6X 1M7.   Given the BC Provincial Health Order, it will be required for all individuals that attend to be double vaccinated and to wear a face mask when indoors.  Live streaming of the service will be available on Youtube at Peace Mennonite Church or at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osxpVJ7ht-o.
