Tribute
We are saddened to announce the passing of Phyllis Blythe (nee Sherwood). Phyllis passed away peacefully in her sleep at 96 years of age. She is predeceased by her sister (Irene), brothers (Bill and Freddy), and son Dale, and survived by her sister Vi Zucchiatti of Thunder Bay, son David Blythe (Paulette) of Vancouver, daughter Dawn Stackhouse (nee Blythe) of Mission and grandchildren Solo (Shaun), Kindle, Richard (Shannon), Jeffrey, Graham, and Jonathan.
Phyllis was born on July 23rd, 1919 in Lake Francis, on a homestead/dairy farm close to Lake Winnipeg. In 1947 she married John V. Blythe and moved to the west coast of BC where she raised her family. Phyllis was a Courtesy Award winning cashier at the Ambleside Safeway where she enjoyed working for 30 years. After she retired, Phyllis moved to Sechelt with her sister Irene. In 1982 she moved to Abbotsford to be closer to her family. In 1984 she bought a home in Mission BC, where she lived for 30 joyful years. Her new home was across the street from beautiful Centennial Park where she loved to walk her dog Gypsy and converse with many friendly neighbors. At home, she loved to garden and to make tasty treats like her famous cinnamon toast, apple pie, and roly-polys. Above all, Phyllis was truly the epitome of kindness, goodness, compassion, and selflessness. She was a very warm, generous, gentle person who adored her family and was a wonderful compassionate friend to all she met. The family would like to thank Dr. Nemanishen, and everyone who cared for Phyllis at her home. She will be dearly missed.
