From: Zahid Makhdoom
Relation: A friend and a colleague
I had the privilege and honour of serving the people of British Columbia in the trenches of the justice system with Randy, or Brother Randall as I often affectionately addressed him. He was a thoughtful, jolly, and kind friend and colleague. Always helpful and available to lend his ear and offer advise. We shared same chambers area for the entire time I served with him. After his retirement he left a small cuckoo clock which is still adorns a wall in my chamber, exactly where he left it for me. I would miss his stories and heart-warming stories that he would tell usually after his visit with his beloved family, particularly his mother in Vanderhoof, or after returning from his annual vacation in Mexico. Death is an inevitably final outcome of life and invites us to reflect upon finding peace despite the large vacuum our dearly departed friends and relatives leave. I hope Brother Randall’s family and all of us his friends would find that much needed peace.

Randy always had a smile and something pleasant to say when we chatted. It was a shock to hear of his passing.
