Obituary

Richard Rehsler

September 27, 1956 – August 3, 2017

It is with sadness that we share with you that our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend passed away suddenly in his sleep on August 3, 2017.

Richard was predeceased by his mother, infant sister and step-mother, Marie. He is survived by his father, Gotthard Rehsler, brother Paul (Lynne) Rehsler and sisters Linda (Brian) Cummings  and Hanna (Jeff) Hein, nieces and nephews, Shannon Rehsler, Rachel, Courtney, Kyle Cummings, Monica (Sean) Tilstra, Craig (Ashley) Barton and great nephew, Cade.  He will also be missed by his canine friend, Sasha.

Richard was a horticulturalist and loved to help and advise people on gardening. Although he struggled with many health related issues in the last years, he was still helping those in need – he had a big heart for the underprivileged.

Relation: 45+ year friend

I remember meeting Richard, and it always was Richard, in junior high school. He Just had that sense of humour that i liked.
He was a friend from day one and no, we did not always agree, but we respected each other’s opinion.
We would visit each other over the years, always with a story. He sure had his physical challenges but was never anything ‘less’ of a person.
His love of what the land could produce was his true passion, but so was what he could do with it.
He was kind, he would share with those that had less or nothing.
Our world needs more kind souls like him.
Peace Richard

Relation: Friend from school.

Condolences to all of Richard’s family and friends. I pray that God’s peace will give each one comfort in this time of bereavement. I met Richard in Elementary School (I think we were in grade 1). He was in my class for most of our elementary school years, sharing the same teachers and the memories of growing up in Yarrow. My family was new to Yarrow. They were immigrants and struggled in adapting to a new country. Richard was always kind and respectful. I remember visiting with Richard was at the Yarrow Elementary School reunion a number of years ago. He spoke as an old friend, sharing about his life, his interests, as well as his health challenges and struggles. Rest in peace, Richard.

A beautiful garden now stands alone,
missing the one who nurtured it
But now he is gone,
His flowers still bloom, and the sun it still shines,
But the rain is like tear drops, for the ones left behind,
The weeds lay waiting to take the gardens beauty away,
But the beautiful memories of its keeper are in our hearts to stay,
He loved every flower even some that were weeds,
So much love he would plant with each little seed,
But just like his flowers he was part of Gods plan,
So when it was his time he reached down his hand,
He looked through the Garden searching for the best,
That’s when he found Rick, it was his time to rest,
It was hard for those who loved him, to just let him go,
But God had a spot in his garden, that needed a gentle soul,
So when you start missing Rick, remember if you just wait,
When God has a spot in his garden, He’ll meet you at the gate….

Our thoughts & prayers are with you.
