Tribute
Robert Garrity, born May 13,1939 in Glasgow Scotland passed away on October 12, 2017 in Langley BC, after his battle with Alzheimer’s. After immigrating to British Columbia in 1964, he became an accomplished welder for Finning Canada and was an extremely proud member of the International Order of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union for over 50 years. He married his soulmate, Marilyn Moore Garrity and they spent their time traveling, dancing, laughing and enjoying family and friends. His sense of humor and compassion brightened so many lives and he would often say, “there are 2 kinds of people, Scottish and those that want to be”. He loved music, movies, family, crosswords and books. He is survived by his wife Marilyn; Children Deborah (Steven), Helen (Mike), Steven (Sandra), Carolyn and Tannis (Jimmy); Siblings Catherine and Martin. Bob will also be fondly remembered by his 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Marilyn and family; My thoughts and prayers go out to you at this time of sadness. Bob was such an interesting fellow he always had a joke or a story to tell me that brought either a smile or laughter. It was really nice to get to know Bob more through our many group trips and vacations and I certainly appreciated his good sense of humor. The thing I remember about Bob the most was that big smile and to me it always seem to have a slight mischievous look to it. As I got to know Bob more I realize that I was right because he could be pretty mischievous behind that little smile. Rest in peace my friend and a big hug to you Marilyn and we will talk soon.
Love Brenda
