October 1, 1947 - October 27, 2024

Tribute

On Sunday, October 27 th , 2024, Bob Harrison passed away peacefully in Abbotsford Hospital at the age of 77, with his wife Trudy and family by his side.

Bob will always be lovingly remembered by his wife, Trudy, his sons Chris and Jeremy (Karly), his daughter, Amanda (Simon), his grandchildren, Dylan (Amy), Finlay and Matteo, and his siblings, Linda (Tom), Rick, Dale (Herb), Anne and close family friend, Anne. He was predeceased by his mother, Doris
Luck (1988) and his father, Robert Harrison (2006).

Bob was born in North Vancouver, the oldest son in a family of 5 children. He was a North Vancouver boy through and through. He played and refereed soccer into the senior leagues throughout his life.

Bob worked for the City of North Vancouver, then on a lumber green chain before joining the North Vancouver District Fire Dept. in 1970. In his 30 year firefighting career, Bob was respected as a firefighter and officer, retiring as a Training Captain. He was a team player who participated in all department sport team events and charity work. He loved being part of the firefighter brotherhood.

In 1993, Bob reconnected with Trudy and they spent 31 amazing, loving years together, enjoying family, travel, charity work, and their cabin life on Pender Island.

Since 1995, Bob suffered and heroically survived several bouts of cancer and PTSD. He did not allow the ravages of these diseases to define him nor defeat him. Bob always had a beautiful smile and unique warmth for everyone.

Bob’s journey touched the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of strength and resilience. His unwavering spirit in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all. His unconditional love for his children, grandchildren and Trudy enabled him to rise above personal trauma.

Bob will be remembered for his extraordinary kindness, compassion, mentorship and the positive impact he had on everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the caring doctors and nurses at Ridge Meadows and Abbotsford hospitals, who tried valiantly to save Bob’s life in the last 5 most challenging weeks of his life.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews United Church, 1044 St. Georges Ave, followed by a celebration of life at the Maplewood Fire Rescue Centre, 2410 Dollarton Hwy in North Vancouver.

Relation: Neighbours

Our deepest condolences to Trudy and the family on the loss of husband, father, and grandfather Bob. Bob was a good neighbour ‘over the hedges’ to my parents Harry and Antoinette (helping to protect those hedges in winter), putting up with yard remediation that affected his and Trudy’s property and being available to my mom, after dad’s death, if she ever needed help. Although she never called upon it, just knowing he would help was a great comfort to her while she lived there. Our hearts go out to you.

From: Eddie

Truly sorry to hear about Bob’s passing. I always liked talking with Bob at family gatherings.. He had a great sense of humor and was easy to talk to. A caring and gentle soul. He was one of the good guys!
Rest in Peace.
