Rodger (Rod) George Boivin

March 14, 1936 - February 28, 2024

Tribute

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of our dad, Rod. He was surrounded by family and peacefully left us on February 28th at the Menno Hospital in Abbotsford. He was born in St. Charles, Manitoba and moved to Port Coquitlam after the age of 12.

Dad will be fondly remembered by his love of family and sports. He loved to play sports from an early age.  A natural athlete, he excelled at golf, hockey and baseball. Golf stuck with him throughout his life, even introducing golf to his wife Barb. They went to beautiful destinations to golf around North America and golfed with many friends at Meadow Gardens and Pitt Meadows Golf Course.

Rod worked for the historic L&K Lumber Sawmill in West Vancouver for 23 years until they closed.  He got a position with Canada Post and delivered mail until he retired. In retirement he continued to travel and golf. He found joy in being a grandparent, always taking a personal interest in what was happening in their life. Personal connections were a source of happiness and fulfillment for him.

He is survived by his wife Barb; daughters Lynn ( David Craig) and June (Marc Rapin); son Lyle Boivin;  stepdaughter Kim Wandler; stepson Ken McCusker (Gillian) and 11 grandchildren,  13 great grandchildren as well as his sister Zella Rieu and many nieces and nephews. Rod was predeceased by 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
As a family we wish a heartfelt thank you to the Menno Hospital for their caring and support throughout the last eleven months.
A private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date with immediate family.
