Ronald Laframboise

December 31, 1982 - December 14, 2010

Tribute

Sadly and unexpectedly, Ron left us on December 14, 2010. His young life and dreams were cut short as he struggled through difficult times. Even though he took his own life we know he is at peace now.

Ron was born in Matsqui BC (now Abbotsford) where he played his first sports and attended elementary school. Ron’s teenage years were spent in Kamloops BC where he completed high school. Ron continued in sports where he excelled in hockey, golf, snowboarding, BMX and dirt bike riding. After high school Ron returned to Abbotsford to work in the construction industry. Ron decided to seek some adventure in his life and traveled to Thailand, Australia and New Zealand. During his travels he learned to surf, scuba dive, bungee jump, canyoning and acquired a taste for spicy Thai food.

Ron will always be remembered as a fun and considerate member of our family. His smile was warm and contagious. He had a fondness for dogs and as a teenager hung out with the family dog Herc. His favourite animal that he loved most was the wolf.

A star in the sky was named for Ron. When we gaze into the night sky “Ronnie” will be the one star in the Cetus constellation that shines so bright in our eyes.

You will be missed by so many. Love always, your family and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Ron,

I find myself reflecting on all the good times we had growing up together. Even though you were often a pain in my side I couldn’t have asked for a better brother. It’s unfortunate that you weren’t able to realize your awesome potential in life as we all saw it in you. You probably don’t even realize how much you will be missed by us.

Ron,
I could always count on you for anything. You were an amzing guy! So easy to like and you fit in everywhere. I am so sorry that it never felt that way for you. You deserved better. You will never know how much you meant to me and how much I am missing you. I hope you have found some sort of peace and that you will watch over us until we see you again. Love you Cousin Ron!

I wake up with tears and go to sleep with tears. I’ve lost my son, my friend, my angel. Life is not the same without him. Maybe I’ll be able to write something more uplifting down the road, but I’m still too heartbroken. Thank heavens for my other son & friend Jesse & his family as well as all the support of my family and friends. I couldn’t have gone on without them.

From: Kris Kolind
Relation: Cousin

I will always remember all the great times that we shared together. A day hasn’t gone by where I haven’t thought about you. I wake up every morning hoping that it was just a horrible nightmare and that the pain will go away. I miss you so much and I wish we had more time together. My children were truly blessed to have known you and it saddens me to think that you won’t be here as they grow up with Kyla and I. You have left a huge void in all of our hearts that will never be filled but we will always remember you as an amazing person. I wish that you could have found your soul mate before it was too late so that you could have become the proud father that I know you would have become. I hope that where ever you are you can see how much everyone cared about you and that you can rest in peace knowing how much you touched all of our lives.

We are calling it ‘empty arm syndrome’ and it is much more painful than empty nest! It is what we feel when we reach out to hug you or call you or even think of you….and you’re not there. You are more than a nephew-you are as much a part of us as those born to us. Our homes were full of laughter and love because the five of you did everything together and we got to be a part of it. You, Kristopher and Jesse opening Christmas stockings [in matching pjs from Nana and Papa] and playing with whatever crazy thing was in them. Five noisy big wheels in the cul-de-sac, street hockey & loosing team roller games, backyard pool fun, riding bikes through our forest, water on the trampoline, tea parties with Chelsea [extra sugar!], scarfing candy ‘til you were sick with Kristopher, visiting Shannon in Vancouver, weddings, births, helping with yardwork or babysitting nieces & nephews, Viking boating, river rafting, tennis over Oscar’s house, weiner roasts at Karl’s ridiculously huge fires and most of all-family game nights! So many memories to hold onto!
No, we hadn’t much money and couldn’t help in that area and are saddened that our love and support just wasn’t enough. I actually hope we don’t win a lottery as you mentioned cuz we wouldn’t have you here to share it with! But if we do, we’ll donate to mental health to help stop the horrific pain this ‘disease’ causes.
Love you forever, thank you for being such an incredible part of our lives Ron,
Hugs n more hugs, Debbie and Karl

Ron, you are in so many of the best memories. From me bossing you, Kris and Jesse around in some game or other as kids, to you and Chelsea visiting in Vancouver – moving us out of the mouse apartment (where you didn’t believe there were mice but enjoyed breaking all our stuff to fit in the garbage), beerfest, and of course mario party, with you always as DK. You were (and will always remain) one of my very favourite people. Your sense of humour and heart were always right on the surface. There was never a time that I didn’t want you around. I can’t imagine what must have been going on in your head that was in such conflict with the person who will always be more of a brother than a cousin in my heart. I wish you knew, cause you couldn’t have known, the effect you had on people; that no one could help but love you and love having you around.
Thanks to everyone for the support and love.

You were such an amazing friend to have in my life. Always with a smile and great attitude. I miss you so much man. It still hasn’t fully sunk in and I keep waiting to see you pop online, or get a text/call. Wherever you are know that you were loved so much and you will be sorely missed. Thank you for always being there for me when I needed a hand and never judging. You were one of my closest buds and going forward without you is painful. I know you’ve found peace and I’m looking forward to seeing you again one day! I love you man and your family are in my prayers.
