Rupert Clarence Ens

June 2, 1926 - January 28, 2023

Tribute

Rupert was born to George and Anna Ens in his grandparent’s home in Rosthern,  Saskatchewan, the oldest son followed by Eileen, Shirley, and Sydney. Dad grew up in a loving Christian home on the family farm in Waldheim, Saskatchewan where many happy memories were made.

In 1946 the family moved to BC and bought an 80 acre farm in the Mt Lehman community and started a dairy farm. Dad worked on the farm for several years but eventually transitioned into construction. During this time Dad met Helen Schellenberg at Peardonville Mennonite Church and were married in 1957. In 1965 they purchased a nine acre farm where they raised their family.

September 1980 was a sad time as our beloved Mother passed away. Dad remained a widower until 1988 when he and Elma Andres were married. They spent 32 years together; travelling, camping, volunteering at MCC, and spending time with family.

A big void was left in Dad’s life in 2020 at the passing away of daughter Donna in January and Elma in September. He longed for Heaven and his prayers were answered when he passed away peacefully on January 28 with Rod at his side.

Dad was predeceased by two infant sons, wife Helen, daughter Donna, and wife Elma. He is mourned by son Rod (Charlene); grandsons Aaron, James (Becky), and Jesse; great grandchildren Olivia and Sawyer;  son-in-law Glenn Farwell;  siblings Eileen Heppner, Shirley Klippenstein, and Sydney (Eileen) Ens; brothers/sisters-in-law Ruth Schellenberg, George and Doreen Schellenberg, and Eugene Andres;  and many nieces and nephews.

Relation: I met Rupet in 1983 as a rooke REALTOR® and developed good relationship over the year. We had many wholesome conversation of his committment to God's ministry.

I remember meeting Rupert in 1983 as a new real estate agent. He was working outside in the yard. We had a good first conversation and developed a good relationship. over the years. I always stopped to say hello to him if I saw him working outside. He always offered coffee and chatted about his relationship with his faith. When he met Elma, he called me to sell his farm and move to town as they wanted to travel and spend more time volunteering at MCC. I stayed in touch with Rupert and Elma and enjoyed coffee with them. When they moved to Condo, I kept in touch with them, and Rupert and Elma always thanked me and offered coffee and cookies. Rupert was a very soft-spoken and gentle soul and a very kind-hearted man. He was committed to GOD and did much work for God’s ministry. I could not visit them during covid, but I kept in touch with them by phone calls 2/3 times a year. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Rupert Rest in peace. Sukh Sidhu Re/max Little Oak Realty.
