Tribute
Born August 28, 1948 in Neepawa, MB to Diane & Harry Simpson, passed away June 5, 2024 in Delta Hospital in Ladner, BC following a stroke, and a brief, but devastating, struggle against a rare bone marrow cancer.
Sandra (Sandy) had a very successful career in Banking but her passion was for children – she was kind, compassionate, and persuasive in championing their rights. She always encouraged and fully supported the children in her care, actively participating in PAC meetings and organizing craft fairs, attending school concerts/plays, assisting, sewing regalia and attending Powwows, selling chocolates for fundraisers, preparing food and clothing hampers through her Church; constantly caring for others. Being a mother to Stacy Perry, step-mother to Ray Ray, Dover & Tisha Perry, foster mother to Carmen & Alicia Littlejohn, and grandma to Ania Gibot, were the highlights of her life. Her husband, Charles Foster’s children, Kaliyan Cartwright and Jason Foster were also welcomed additions to the family, and Sandra shared many stories and laughs with them during family events.
She was a loving partner to her husband, Charles Foster, for 28+ years, and will be missed more than words can express by Charles, her sister, Pat Castle, her Aunt Barb Simpson, and cousins in BC and Manitoba. Cubby, the family cockapoo, was her constant companion and will miss Sandy so very much. A loyal and life-long friend to so many, and as a cousin expressed, “Sandy has always been a beacon of love and caring for everyone in her orbit – a beautiful soul and an inspiration to everyone lucky enough to be in her circle”.

A Memorial Service will be held at Oakridge Church of Christ, 6970 Oak Street, Vancouver, BC on Saturday, June 22nd , 2024 at 1:00 pm with light refreshments to follow.
