Wiebe and Jeske Funeral Home Staff send our condolences to family and friends.

From: Marilyn Harder
Relation: Acquaintance of family

To the Sommerfeld Family: So sorry to hear of Sophie’s passing. I remember her as a very kind, soft spoken lady in church. May you feel God’s presence at this time.

From: Myra Zacharias
Relation: Friend co worker

I loved working with Sophie. Her laugh and good attitude was a joy to be around. She offered me much wisdom – one day you will like your daughter as well as love her- and we had lots of laughs. The most memorable thing about working with her was her picking up pens. It was common knowledge that if you left a pen or pencil near Sophie, she would pick it up and carry it

Our deepest sympathy and many precious memories.

From: Shirley Derksen
Relation: friend & bridesmaid

Dear Jerry and family,
I’ll quickly introduce myself so you will know my connection with Sophie and with you! I was one of your bridesmaids all those years ago! I’m Shirley who was teaching in Warman at the time of your courtship and subsequent wedding.

My sincerest sympathy, thoughts and prayers go out to you at this time. I am acquainted with Mary Dyck Enns in Saskatoon, Sophie’s cousin; the news has come to me through her.

In thinking of the year that Sophie and I shared in Warman, the memories are flooding back! She had a LARGE Grade 1 class and I marvelled at how she managed. We had wonderful sing-songs with the kids in Gr. 1-4, Sophie at the piano and yours truly the “fledgling conductor”. One song we sang with particular gusto was “He owns the cattle on a thousand hills”, Sophie excelling at the piano (I’m sure you can picture this!) We even took a choir to a local Music Festival and won a little trophy.

She was a wonderful colleague and always fun to be with. I was privileged to know her.

Sincerely,
Shirley Derksen

From: Jackie and Bryan Bullivant
Relation: Darin and Kelly's Aunt and Uncle

We are so very sorry to hear of Sophie’s passing. Bryan and I only met her once a few years ago at a birthday party here in Calgary, but she was a lovely person and we really enjoyed meeting her (Gerald, as well). The family will miss Sophie dearly and we can definitely relate to what you are going through. However, it is good to know that she isn’t in pain anymore and that she is in a better place…. but it is still very hard for those left behind. Bryan and I are praying for you at this difficult time…and our thoughts are with you as you attend the Memorial Service today. Please give Gerald a special hug from us. Blessings to you all. Love, Bryan and Jackie
