Stanley Francis Kenward

March 21, 1945 - February 24, 2019

Tribute

Stanley Francis Kenward, born on March 21, 1945 in Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, Canada to Arthur and Irene Kenward, passed away peacefully in the arms of his children on February 24, 2019.

Stan was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Irene Kenward, his brother Michael, and his grandson Jesse. He is survived by his loving wife Greta and his three children, Laura (Ron), Kathy (Dean) and Dan (Jacqueline), his five grandchildren Ryan, Olivia, Seneth, Emma, Mackenzie, and also by his sister Lenore.

Stan had a successful career in the Financial Industry until his retirement from Investors Group in 2012. He absolutely adored his family, loved Golf and the Canucks…even if he never did get to see them raise the cup. He lived how he preached and provided support and guidance to anyone who needed it, even if they didn’t ask for it. Dad was a faithful man and a devoted Christian. He was comforted knowing he would be with the Lord when he drew his last breath in those early morning hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia or the Mennonite Central Committee British Columbia.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3845 Gladwin Rd Abbotsford, BC. This will be immediately followed by a grave side service at Hazelwood Cemetery, 34070 Hazelwood Ave, Abbotsford BC. There will be a luncheon and Celebration of Life at approximately 12:15, also to be held at Trinity Lutheran Church. For those who do not wish to attend the graveside service, there will be refreshments served at the church until the Celebration of Life commences.

The family would like to extend their immense gratitude to the staff and workers at The Oxford Care Home in Abbotsford. The care and respect given to him, especially in those last days, brought him such comfort. We will never forget that constant kindness that was provided to him.

We could not have asked for a better father. We love you Dad and you will be missed.

Till we meet again.

From: Dan and Linda Sivorot
Relation: Uncle

We are sorry to hear the passing of Uncle Stan. After the tears have dried and the goodbyes have been said, all we have to hold onto are the happy memories that we’ve shared with our loved ones who have passed. It’s what keeps them alive in our hearts and in our minds, and they continue to live on… Through us.

From: Ernest Sommerfeld
Relation: Uncle

To My Tante Gretel, Cousins Laura, Kathy and Dan.
Please accept our condolences for the loss of your husband and father Stan.
I can fondly remeber our conversations when Gina and I decided to get into our own business. Uncle Stan provided us with some insights as to what to expect and how to always maintain a close Family when self employed…his advise has worked for us!
On behalf of our Family, we wish you heart felt Peace and Love during this sad time.
Ernie, Gina and Family

From: Eileen Patterson
Relation: Dear friend first and client second.

My deepest Sympathy to you all. I will always remember Stan coming in the house and the first words would be about the Canucks and of course that would get my husband Leo going. Good memories. Stan and Leo are together now probably coaching a Hockey game.

From: Shirley and Brian Archer
Relation: long term friend and colleague .

It is with sadness we say goodbye to a great friend . It was Stan that welcomed us into the community of Abbotsford when we arrived in 1992 and we maintained that friendship throughout the years . Both Shirley and I will miss him and know that he finally at peace .

From: Erica Eversfield
Relation: He’s my uncle

To Aunty Gretel, Laura, Kathy, Dan and families.

Please accept our heartfelt sympathy at the loss of Uncle Stan – a man who proficiently fulfilled numerous and varied roles in life. I would say husband, father and opa being his greatest and proudest endeavour.

Uncle Stan and Aunty Gretel both opened their heart and home to me when I needed it most. They tucked me under they unified solitary wing and Uncle Stan’s quiet strength offered me the reassurance that I was protected and safe in a time when my world was coming apart. This character trait, the one of “quiet strength,” is one that I would say is one of his greatest attributes. One that I will always remember and respect.

So, goodbye now Uncle Stan. May you now rest in eternal serenity and peace. xo

From: Linda and Kerr Campbell

Dan, Jacquie and family…Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this time while you remember and honour your Dad
