Tribute

After having beaten prostate cancer, Tim died of small cell carcinoma in Abbotsford hospital holding the hand of his beloved wife and partner of 40 years.  He is survived by his wife Barbara (Pascoe), son Michael both of Abbotsford and daughter Jennifer (Martin) Jackman and grandchildren Sarah and Matthew, all of Mission.  Also, by his siblings Sheila, Sandy and Dave and their families and by Barb’s family. He was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Kay Marshall, Sidney and in-laws Frank and Doris Pascoe, Saskatoon.

Tim was born in Edmonton, raised in Sidney, B.C., completed university in 1980 in Saskatoon where he acquired a sales job with FCL at Co-Op Feeds, a wife, 2 children and a catamaran – ever the sailor.  He was heavily involved and had so much fun with the Folkfest board, Scottish Societies and pavilion and the Saskatoon Police Pipe Band (Piper).  A 2003 move to Mission then to Abbotsford saw Tim continue in the animal feed industry, ending his career as Feed Dept. Manager at Otter Co-Op.

The move to B.C. added a son-in-law and 2 grandchildren to our family – and a sailboat.  The grandchildren loved sailing with Grandpa on Semiahmoo Bay.  They were chased by a “pirate ship” during a re-enactment cannon battle between the Lady Washington and the Hawaiian Chieftain.  And Grandpa outran the pirates!  Tim also put his university honed skills to work and could still beat his grandchildren at foosball.

Over the years many of Tim’s customers, suppliers and work associates became close personal friends.  He loved the feed industry, its scientific aspects and the people involved in it.  He took pride in his work and put in many more hours than were required.  He was all about ethics, honesty and determination with a twisted sense of Scottish humour and positive attitude.

Tim’s passion was ocean sailing/cruising and our Catalina 350 sailboat, Cheeky Monkey was his pride and joy. He enjoyed the small catamaran we used on Candle, Blackstrap and Diefenbaker lakes while in Saskatoon but the move to the Fraser Valley afforded him ocean access and he lived for spending time on the boat.  Tim was also delighted to share his knowledge and for several years was a teacher and federally certified examiner for various boating classes thru Canadian Power and Sail – Valley Squadron.  He was also Cruise Master for 10 years, creating 1, 2 and 3 week cruises for Valley members to enjoy in the Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound and Princess Louisa Inlet (his favourite place on earth).  We made trips to many beautiful places and forged wonderful, lasting friendships.

Tim was intelligent, fun, deeply loved and losing him so young is heartbreaking. His cornea were donated which will help several people regain their sight.  We are so grateful for all the support over these past 3 years of Tim’s battle and for all the cards, flowers, phone calls and food now.

For now, there will be no memorial gathering.
