Tina Willma Janzen (Reinke)

April 15, 1924 - December 6, 2016

Tribute

Tina Wilma Reinke Janzen was born in the spring of 1924 on April 15th, in Gruenfeld, South Russia.

She was the second child of her parents Helena (Penner) and Frank Reinke.  The family would eventually include seven siblings – five sisters, Tina’s older sister, Helen and younger sisters, Mary, Frances (Hulda) and Lorena, and two brothers, Rudy and Peter.

In 1928 Frank and Helena Reinke, with their three daughters and their first son on the way, emigrated from Russia to Rosthern, Saskatchewan. Frank Reinke found work but those early years were very difficult.

In 1935 the family moved to Glenbush, Saskatchewan, where Frank farmed and did some janitor work.  The children all pitched in.  Tina learned to work hard, working with her Dad and brother –  harrowing, disking, raking, hay stooking, picking rocks and roots from newly cleared land, milked the cows, and watering the cattle – getting the water with a rope and bucket from the sixty foot well.

When Tina was 16 years old, she attended a revival meeting at the M.B. church where her heart was convicted and she made Jesus her Lord and Saviour.

It was in her church in Rosthern that Tina caught the eye of a young man, Jacob Janzen, and they were married two years later in 1945.

In the spring of 1947, they moved to Abbotsford, British Columbia, first a hobby farm, where they raised their four children, then downsized in retirement. .

Tina’s health was not always good, but she stayed busy and active until her stroke on Sept. 18,2016.

Tina ended her earthly journey very peacefully in the morning of  December 6th in the Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission.

Tina is predeceased by her parents, and two sisters – Helen and Mary.

Tina is survived by her loving family – her husband of 71 years, Jake ,  her children, Julie Klassen (Vic),  Bill (Janet), Grace Hutchinson (Dan) and James (Doris) , her grandchildren, Romay (Vince) , Cherie, Trina, Chad (Shannon), Darryl,  Justin (Kelly), Shaun,  Keith (Devon) , Andrea (Edward) and her great grandchildren, Elise, Elora, Andrew, Sydney, Charlie, Aiden, and Lenox.

She also leaves behind two sisters, Lorena Redekop (John) and Frances Schrock (Harlos) and two brothers, Rudy Reinke (Erika) and Peter Reinke (Frances)

Memorial service on Thursday,  Dec. 15th, at 11:00 am at Level Ground Mennonite Church, King Rd. Abbotsford, B.C.

Dear Jake and family: We were sorry to miss Tina’s memorial today, but you were in our thoughts and prayers as you said your final goodbyes to Tina, and remembered a life well-lived. Katherine had a special relationship with Tina at MCC, as a co-volunteer, and also as the sister to her aunt Helen Peters. Her faithful service at MCC was an inspiration for Katherine, as yours was for John over many years. Katherine and John Konrad

Dear Jake and Family,
Many years have passed since you were SS superintendent at West Abb and several of us started as fledging SS teachers for the primary age kids. You built a lovely China cabinet for my parents in 1954 that our son had signed by you and still proudly uses in his dining room. During all these endeavours Tina stood faithfully beside you . The Reinkens were a special family at church. May the Heavenly father continue to guide you to the end of your life’s journey by his grace and love. Annie nee Ens and Arthur Heinrichs ., Kelowna
