Tribute
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Trudy, a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Trudy passed away peacefully at Abbotsford Regional Hospital on Saturday, August 24th surrounded by love with her daughter, son in law, sisters, nieces and extended family by her side.
Survived by her daughter, Danielle Olsen of Cochrane Alberta, sisters, Mary Bates of Edmonton, Kathy Nicolette of Abbotsford and many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father, Albert Olsen, mother Georgette Olsen, sisters, Jean Harter, Ruth Olsen and Christine Wiebe.
Trudy was born in Abbotsford and it was here she spent most of her life. She graduated from Abbotsford Senior Secondary School in 1975 and went on to complete her diploma in Business Management and Administration in 1980 at Fraser Valley College. She held several positions in that field throughout her successful career, making many lifelong friends with co-workers along the way.
Her competitive nature was evident from an early age starting when she was 6 with swimming, often winning events in an age category 1 or 2 years older than her. Later, she joined several baseball and soccer teams and win or lose games would be followed with a celebration that included copious amounts of Budweiser.
She had many interests and her competitive nature ensured she was always up for a challenge. She was often the initiator of events such as white water rafting, and viking challenges, always dragging whoever she could with her, and always winning.
Her time with her bowling team is fondly remembered, with several away trips the team took for tournaments.
Forever the sports fan she loved, loved, loved her Seahawks. Her knowledge about football was vast. Sundays were spent watching the games. Ever encouraging others when, where and what 50/50 tickets to purchase during major games. GO Seahawks!
What we will all remember well is her wit, her wicked sense of humor and her infectious laugh.
Her love of Texas Holdem’ brought her luck at the casinos on several occasions, please if you are at a casino, drop a coin in a slot for her – she will probably bring you luck.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. The family asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the BC Cancer Foundation – Beyond Belief.
