Tribute

Terry Burt was born on May 26 1946, to Elwyn and Dorothy Burt in Rosetown SK, and passed peacefully with family near him on April 2 2020 in Abbotsford BC.  Terry grew up on the family farm outside of Rosetown with his sister, Kathleen, and attended school in Rosetown.  After graduating, Terry moved to Moose Jaw where he attended SIAST and received a diploma in drafting technology.  Terry then attended the College of Education at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon where he obtained his Bachelor of Education degree in 1971.  Terry spent the next few years in Rosetown teaching and working on the family farm while his own family was expanding with the birth of his son, Dorian.  Teaching took Terry and family to Prince Albert SK for several years where he taught drafting at Carlton Comprehensive High School and his daughter, Heather-Marie, was born.  Returning to Rosetown and the family farm in the late 1970s, Terry worked at PWCC and joined the Lions Club.  In the mid 1980s, Terry returned to university, obtaining his Masters of Education at the University of Saskatchewan in 1988.  Terry’s career saw him moving to British Columbia in the early 1990s where he worked with different Community Futures corporations before returning to teaching in the province.  Terry spent the past 12 years of his life in Abbotsford in retirement, where he made many friends.  Terry spent the last few months of his life welcomed by the staff at Menno Home in Abbotsford.

Terry was pre-deceased by his father, Elwyn, mother, Dorothy, and sister, Kathleen, as well as several aunts and uncles.  Terry is survived by his son, Dorian Burt, daughter Heather-Marie Flecknor and several cherished friends and neighbours.
