Tribute
Carol “Tobey” Rinke-Sala (née Stark), 67, of White Rock, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Tobey was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Charles and Doris (Starr) Stark on June 5, 1947. She attended the University of Nebraska where she earned a degree in education and met the love of her life, Al Rinke. Tobey's compassionate and nurturing heart led her to a career in teaching elementary school in Nebraska and Perth, Australia, and later working with those with special needs and the mentally ill. After her husband's death in 1984, she bravely carried on raising her 3 young children and moved to White Rock where she fell in love with the natural beauty of British Columbia. She was loved by all who knew her and will be remembered for her warm smile and charitable spirit.
She is survived by her daughter, Heather (Ryan) Eastwood, sons Patrick (Tara) Rinke and Charles “CJ” (Megan) Rinke, and sisters, Judy, Patty, Sharon, Mary, Cindy, and Debbie. Tobey leaves behind 9 grandchildren who were the light of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband Al Rinke, parents Charles and Doris, brother Kirk, and sister Jackie.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Langley Hospice Residence where Tobey was lovingly cared for the past 6 weeks of her life.
Funeral service will be held Monday August 11, 2014 11:00 am at the White Rock LDS Chapel 15450 20th Ave, Surrey, BC
Memorial donations may be made to Stand Up To Cancer, Tobey's favorite charity.
