Gwendoline Watson (Lintern)

July 25, 1925 - March 11, 2015

Tribute

It is with sadness that the family of Gwendoline Watson (nee Lintern) announces her passing. Gwen was born in Luton, England on July 25, 1925. She trained and worked as a lab bacteriologist in London, England. In 1956 she came to Canada to spend a year working at the Vancouver General and then Pearson Hospitals. During her stay she met Hamish Watson at the Mission to Seafarers Flying Angel Club on the Vancouver waterfront; they were married in 1958 and settled in Vancouver. Gwendoline was predeceased by Hamish in 2011 and is survived by her children, Jane, Malcolm and Mary and two granddaughters. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to a favourite charity. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, July 3rd at St Helen’s Anglican Church at 4405 West 8th, Vancouver.

From: Kate Quenville (Stokes)
Relation: Relationship - How did you know the deceased?

Dear Jane, Malcolm and Mary,
I was so sorry to read about your Mum in the paper this morning. It was also the first time I had heard about your Dad’s passing too. Doesn’t matter how old we are or how much we expect it to happen, a parent’s death leaves a void in our lives. I have memories of your Mum, tea in the kitchen and laughter. Particularly, laughter.
I hope all three of you are well. My thoughts are often with you as I have wondered where you all are and how you are doing.
Fond memories and much love,
Kate Quenville (alias: Cathy Stokes!)

Dear Jane, Mary and Malcolm,
Thinking of you and wishing I could be of help somehow.
Your Mom was a nice lady and I will remember her and say a prayer for her…….Maryanne

From: Megan Doell (Belcher)
Relation: Family friend

Jane, Malcolm and Marymybestfriend, it was with great sadness that I read of your mum’s passing. I will forever remember fondly your mother telling us to “watch the roads mind” on our way to school or calling me from the top of the stairs that it was time to go home after playing for hours downstairs. Another funny to me thing was seeing her iron the wax paper for wrapping sandwiches. A different time but the best of times. My sincere condolences to you.
