Tribute

It is with great sadness that we honour and remember the life of Lilli Wuensche, who passed away on October 11^th, 2023 at the age of 95.

Lilli was born on March 13^th, 1928 in Neuendorf Kreis Lyck, East Prussia and had 11 siblings. She married Wolfgang Wuensche in Watenstedt Salzgitter, Germany and they had seven children – Manfred, Edeltraud,  Ferdinand, Siegfried, Margret, Rose, and Ruth.

Lilli and Wolfgang immigrated to Canada in 1953 with 2 children (Manfred and Edel), and eventually settled down and raised their children in Kitimat, B.C. They moved to Abbotsford, B.C. in 1989. Wolfgang passed in 1997, of leukemia.  Afterwards, Lilli lived in Abbotsford and then Kelowna for a few years, before returning to Abbotsford.

Lilli was a bold, brave, and a straight forward person who pursued life with courage and compassion. She enjoyed sushi, salt-and-vinegar chips, American Ninja Warrior, reading, and knitting. She faced technology head-on, and attended Zoom meetings with family, had her own Facebook account, read on her Kindle, and preferred texting to phone calls.

Lilli’s confidence was rooted in her strong Christian faith, attending Maranatha Baptist Church Abbotsford since 1989.  For almost the last decade she made her home at Primrose Gardens, Menno Place in Abbotsford, BC.  Lilli will be missed by all the people her life touched.

 She is survived by siblings Helga Gardzella, Walli Kuehn, and Rosemarie Kurschat and her children Manfred Wuensche, Edeltraud Kearley, Ferdinand Wuensche, Siegfried Wuensche, Margret Crosby, Rose Klukas and Ruth Falconer, twenty two grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren.

Service will be held Friday, October 20^th, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Maranatha Baptist Church, 3580 Clearbrook Road.
